Top Navigation and Maps Apps on iOS in the UK: Q4 2024 Performance

In the fourth quarter of 2024, the top navigation and maps applications on iOS in the United Kingdom showed varying performance metrics, as reported by Sensor Tower.

Google Maps maintained a strong presence with weekly downloads fluctuating around 60K. The app saw a slight dip in November but rebounded in December, ending the year with about 60.5K downloads. Active users remained robust, hovering around 19.5M, with some minor fluctuations throughout the quarter.

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic experienced a steady decline in downloads, starting at approximately 38K and dropping to nearly 29.4K by the end of December. Active users showed some variability, peaking at around 2.3M in late November before settling back to about 2.1M.

what3words: Navigation & Maps had an initial spike in downloads to 25.9K at the beginning of October, followed by a gradual decline to 15.4K by year-end. The app's active user base showed a peak in late October at 551K but then dropped to roughly 368K by December 30.

Google Earth displayed a fairly consistent download pattern, with numbers ranging from 17.6K to 24.3K, reaching its peak in the week before Christmas. Active users varied, starting at 412K and ending the quarter at 361K.

Finally, myRAC saw downloads peak in early November at 15.7K before gradually declining to 10.3K by the end of December. Active users showed a similar pattern, with numbers peaking around 105K in December before settling at approximately 76K.
